Introduction

Pharma Mag Forte is a researched blend of the minerals magnesium, potassium and calcium. These minerals are integral for energy production and healthy cardiovascular, muscular and neural function. To increase the effectiveness of these minerals they are combined with the nutrient carriers orotate and aspartate. Orotate is important for heart health but also carries magnesium directly into the cells that need it the most. Aspartate is required for energy production.

The combined beneficial effects of the minerals and their carriers in this formula make Pharma Mag Forte a unique and valuable everyday supplement for energy production and healthy heart, muscle and nerve function.

Safety Information

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consume sufficient magnesium, potassium and calcium. The recommended dietary intake (RDI) of magnesium for Australian women is from 310mg to 400mg per day. Many trials have established the safety of calcium in doses up to 2000mg per day in pregnancy. The adequate intake (AI) of potassium for Australian women has been set at 2800mg/d and increases to 3200mg/d during breastfeeding.
  • Always read the label and use only as directed.
  • Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet.
  • Consult your pharmacist when taking supplements with pharmaceutical medications. Certain nutrients enhance the way some medicines work, and help make other medicines safer. Please ask your pharmacist for further information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do our bodies make magnesium, potassium and calcium? If so, why do I need to take a supplement?

Magnesium, potassium and calcium are major minerals needed in the body. These minerals are called electrolytes. The body does not make them; we take them in through the food we eat. Even though these minerals are found abundantly in the food supply, there may be deficiencies. In fact, potassium deficiency is the most common electrolyte deficiency even though the richest sources of potassium are fruits and vegetables.

Lack of dietary intake is not the only cause for mineral deficiencies. Conditions such as diabetes, dehydration, alcohol abuse, kidney disorders, prolonged vomiting or diarrhoea, and certain drugs (such as diuretics) can cause the excessive loss of these minerals through urine and sweat. Additionally, having low stomach acid (often seen in the older adult), deficiencies in other nutrients (like vitamin D), and very high fibre diets are a few of the factors that may limit the absorption of these minerals into the bloodstream and into your cells.19 Your pharmacist can provide you with more information on your supplementation needs.

What are orotate and aspartate?

Orotate is a nutrient made naturally in our bodies. It benefits us by carrying minerals such as magnesium throughout the body and depositing it at specific sites within the cell. Magnesium is a mineral found mainly within the cell; this is where it is most effective. Therefore, it is very beneficial to combine magnesium and orotate. Orotate also has the added benefit of supporting heart function and energy production.

Aspartates are amino acids; amino acids are the building blocks of protein. This amino acid is needed by the body to produce energy.
